Magic Notes takes Southern Italy: A match made at the European Social Services Conference
Magic is in the air for the thirty municipalities constituting the A5 Social Services Consortium in Southern Italy, or rather, it has been integrated into their social services’ workflow.
All it took was a 20-minute Innovation Zone presentation at the 2025 European Social Services Conference, where Magic Notes took centre stage. A three-year partnership agreement between Magic Notes – Beam and the A5 Social Services Consortium came as a result. The objective is clear: to support social workers in enhancing the quality of services provided.
Reclaiming time for human connections
The agreement in question regulates the adoption of Magic Notes, an AI-powered note-taking tool across the consortium. The product is a creation of Beam, an organization dedicated to harnessing technology to generate positive social impact.
Magic Notes records and transcribes conversations and drafts high-quality documents and reports of interactions with frontline workers. The aim is to ease the burdensome administrative work weighing on the heads of social workers, often taking time from establishing human connections and optimally helping those they serve.
Case in point, heavy administrative responsibilities have accompanied the over 50 social workers concerned by the partnership agreement for as long as they can remember.
The highest stake within the agreement is therefore to impact the quality of services provided across the consortium positively. To this end, the first order of business will be cutting long waiting times for services, with an expected trickle-down effect on the social workers’ motivation to practice their profession. All in all, the partnership demonstrates the transformative power of AI in social services, specifically its ability to augment the capacity of social workers rather than replace them.
The power of the European Social Services Conference
This success story in the making shines a spotlight on the importance of accessing the right connections and harnessing the power of a public-private partnership. The annual European Social Services Conference, a reference event for knowledge-sharing across all strands of social services, constitutes a dedicated opportunity to make these connections.
In the words of Samantha Cole, Communications Executive at Beam, “Our partnership with ESN has given us direct access to a highly engaged community of social services leaders across Europe, creating visibility and trust in a space where credibility truly matters. [...] This connection [...] helps us bring meaningful innovation to more teams across Europe”.
“We would not have learnt about the practice without the intermediation of the European Social Network!” continues Carmine de Blasio, General Director of the Consortium of Municipalities of Area 5 Atripalda.
These testimonials show how AI adoption and participation in the European Social Services Conference are two sides of the same time-saving, quality-enhancing coin.
